I’m so excited about my new Mandalorian crochet kit! I was surprised with this amazing present for my birthday. Who knew I’d be so into crochet? I mean, I was hooked (pun intended) ever since I got a Disney Princess crochet kit for Christmas a couple of years ago.

What’s Included?

This kit comes with everything you need to make two of the characters in the book. It comes with a pocket-sized book, yarn, stuffing, a crochet hook, safety eyes, and even a needle with embroidery floss. The projects listed on the box sound awesome, and the patterns in the book promises hours and hours of crochet fun. Check it out on Amazon below!

Step-by-step instructions for crocheting 12 adorable characters from the TV series, plus enough material for two projects—the Mandalorian and Grogu with his floating pram.

Don’t be Afraid to Get Creative

At first, I was skeptical when I saw these kits in stores because the dolls on the cover looked a bit questionable. I can be a bit of a doll snob, I admit. But once I started working through the patterns, I realized there’s plenty of room for improvisation and customization. I mean, who needs a doll with a mouth, right? And some of the hairdos were so last season.

Now I’m all about making my own modifications. Maybe next time I’ll give Mando a fancy hat, or a stylish scarf. Maybe expand his head a bit – you know, for those big-brained Mandalorian ideas. But for now, I’m ready to dive into my first project, Den Djarin and see if I can make him look as rugged as he does in the series. Who knew crochet could be so adventurous!?

Are the Patterns Hard?

The yarn that came with the kit is a bit stiff but it gets the job done. This particular doll is high maintenance – it’s got separate arms, shoulder pads (shoulder pads on a doll, seriously?), side pieces for the helmet, a sash, and even a cape. It’s like a doll with a multiple personality disorder, trying to keep all its pieces together! (Check out my blog on organizing here to help maintain your sanity). But if you can keep all of the pieces together, you’ve got it made!

Let’s Talk About the Show!

Can we just take a moment to talk about Din Djarin (also known as Mando) now? Let me just start by saying that so far Din Djarin is probably one of my favorite characters in the galaxy far, far away. Something about his “I can bring you in warm or I can bring you in cold” attitude is just so charming. By the way, do you think he uses that line to ask people if they prefer their coffee hot or iced?

My family and I finally hopped on the Disney Plus bandwagon this year. I know, we were fashionably late. We used our Disney Insider points to redeem a full month of Disney Plus for free. As huge Marvel and Star Wars fans, we spent our new year’s eve, new year’s day, and the day after that glued to the screen. We may have needed some help getting off the couch after that marathon. I’m pretty sure I almost had to relearn how to walk!

I’m really glad we waited to get Disney Plus because it meant we got to binge-watch the Mandalorian without any waits. Waiting for new episodes would have driven me crazy. Obviously Mando has that Clint Eastwood, western vibe, but what really got me was his soft spot for baby Yoda, or as he’s now known, Grogu. That scene when he first discovers Grogu and extends his finger for Grogu to grab, and the camera zooms out… c’mon, it’s impossible not to say “aww.” Who knew a tough guy with a soft spot could be this endearing?

Where Can I Get One?

If you’re a fan of sci-fi and action, you’ve got to check out the Mandalorian on Disney Plus. It’s like a rollercoaster ride through the Star Wars universe with more surprises than a droid with faulty wiring. And if you’re already a fan and want to up the anty, you’ve got to check out this crochet kit! So, grab your favorite snacks, crochet hook and yarn, cozy up on the couch, and prepare for an adventure that’s more thrilling than a pod race on Tatooine!
Did you love Mando as much as we did? What were your favorite parts?

Have you crocheted from these kits before? If so, how did you like it? Did you make any changes to the dolls that didn’t appear in the pattern? If so, please share, I’d love to hear about it!

Has this sparked your interest in the idea of crochet kits? Then you’ll be pleased to know that there are more kits out there! Crazy right?! The picture below is a sample of some of the kits I’ve bought.
