I’ve always had a deep fascination with owls—every single one of them! They’re all so unique, yet they all share that magical “I know something you don’t” vibe. They’re stunning and can sit still for hours, all while plotting their next move with those big, wise eyes. I suppose that’s why ancient Greeks decided these feathered friends were the epitome of wisdom. As a kid, I desperately wanted one as a pet; unfortunately, I was met with a firm “no” every time. Can you imagine the chaos? My owl and I would have been quite the duo—wreaking hilarious havoc while I tried to teach it to fetch my snacks.

A Lifelong Love for Magic and Owls: My Journey with Harry Potter

I think my obsession with Hedwig in the Harry Potter series is what hooked me so quickly. The moment Hagrid handed Harry his new pet owl, I thought, “This series is going to be my forever book crush!” And boy, was I right! Fast forward to me at 37, still dusting off a book or binge-watching the movies whenever I need an escape. My friends are out there climbing mountains and running marathons, and I’m over here casually reminiscing about a magical world where owls deliver mail.

The Unwavering Loyalty of Hedwig: More Than Just a Pet

Honestly, I love how much personality Rowling gave each owl. Sometimes I feel like I relate to Hedwig more than Harry! I mean, who hasn’t had a mood swing that could rival a diva in a drama? And her absolute annoyance with Ron’s little owl, Pig? Relatable! (Not hating on Pig by the way. He’s completely adorable too. I keep hoping they’ll bring him into the upcoming Max series.) Despite the differences between her and Harry, Hedwig loved him and remained loyal to him until the very end, which makes her even more admirable in my eyes. What an incredible friend and character!

An Accessible Guide for Crochet Enthusiasts of All Levels

The pattern book was really easy to follow, had illustrations and pictures, and also had basic crochet stitch instructions at the front of the book for both those just learning and those who just need to dust off the cobwebs for a memory refresh.

I loved crocheting this adorable doll of this beloved character. She is also just the right size to accompany the doll of Harry when you create him. After all, where would Harry be without Hedwig?
