Delicious Breakfast Quiche: The Ultimate Brunch Recipe
Are you on the hunt for a breakfast so delicious that it’ll have you questioning whether you accidentally booked a stay at a fancy resort?
Or maybe you need a recipe that can be whipped up the night before, then baked to perfection while you lounge around in your pajamas, sipping coffee, and pretending your personal chef is in the kitchen crafting a five-star masterpiece for you? Or perhaps you’re gearing up for a brunch that’ll make all your guests believe you secretly moonlight as a Michelin star chef?
Well, buckle up! You’ve hit the jackpot!
The Showstopper Recipe
We recently threw together a brunch party for Mother’s Day, and let me tell you, this recipe stole the spotlight! With its fluffy eggs, savory cheese, and just the right sprinkle of spices, it was a hit faster than you can say “breakfast in bed.”
The best part?
We could whip it up the night before, which was a blessing because it allowed us to focus on important things—like not burning the toast and arranging the table without losing our sanity. While the oven worked its magic, we were free to channel our inner Martha Stewart (minus the prison time!). Talk about a win-win!
Crust Options Galore
Another advantage of this recipe is that the crust can either be pre-made or store bought. Another time saver and another bonus amount of time to spend gloriously lounging in bed. What more could you possibly ask for? Maybe a personal butler to bring you snacks? Now that’s the dream!
The Crust Assembly

This recipe kicks off with a delicious crust settling down into a quiche dish. If you don’t have a quiche dish lying around (who does?), a pie plate will totally work—no judgment here! We opted for this charming antique quiche plate and couldn’t resist snagging a cute pie plate from Amazon.
Once you’ve lovingly nestled the crust into the dish, you can pinch off any excess crust. Smooth it down along the bottom and edges, and then grab a fork to poke some holes in the crust, like you’re giving it a little acupuncutre treatment. This step is crucial; it helps keep the crust from bubbling up. Trust me, nobody wants a rebellious crust!
The Filling Magic
In a mixing bowl, crack in the eggs, add in the buttermilk, cream, cheese, salt, nutmeg, and those delicious minced onions. If you’re feeling adventurous, toss in some extra fillings—maybe some sausage and mushrooms. Just be careful not to go overboard; we don’t want it overflowing and bringing back bad memories of those college microwave ramen noodle days!

Now, it’s time to give your masterpiece a cozy staycation,
Cover the quiche dish with plastic wrap and let it chill in the refrigerator overnight. That’s right—nope, no magic spells or complicated rituals involved! Just let it take a long nap. Easy peasy, right? If it were any simpler, it would probably just make itself!

Baking Time!
The next morning, crank up that oven to 350°F – it’s about to get cozy in there! Slide your quiche in and let it bake for 45 minutes (or 52 minutes if you’re feeling ambitious and cooking two). While it’s in the oven, why not grab yourself a steaming cup of coffee? Trust me, the delicious aroma wafting through your kitchen will make you feel like a gourmet chef in a five-star restaurant… or at least a very proud home cook.
As your quiche bakes, be sure to keep an eye on it.
You don’t want it to turn into a charcoal lump! Once it’s transformed into a lovely golden brown on top, it’s time for my patented “jiggle test.” Give it a gentle shake and see if its middle has gone all solid and firm. If it jiggles like it just got off a rollercoaster ride, it’s still too wobbly. But if it stands proud and tall, then congratulations, it’s time to dig in! Bon appétit!

Delicious Breakfast Quiche: The Ultimate Brunch Recipe
Ingredients
Equipment
Method
- Prehead oven to 350℉
- Place pre-made pie crust in pie or quiche pan and remove excess from edges. Poke holes in the pastry to prevent it from bubbling up.
- Mix first 5 ingredients together. We enjoy the tang of the buttermilk in this recipe but if you're not sure you'll like the extra tang and want something a little more traditional, replace the 1/2 cup of buttermilk with an additional 1/2 cup of heavy whipping cream. Bringing the total amount of heavy whipping cream to 1 cup.
- Add some cheese to the egg mixture, careful not to add too much depending on how many other filings you are going to add. You don't want to overflow your dish.
- Add other fillings (meats, vegetables, mushrooms, etc.) to the pie crust in the dish.
- Pour egg and cheese mixture over the top.
- Either bake right away or place plastic wrap over the top and place in the refrigerator over night.
- When ready to cook, bake at 350℉ for 45 minutes or until browned on top. Also, for an additional check, see my tried and true "jiggle test" method described in the blog above.
- For cooking 2 quiche at the same time, bake for approximately 52 minutes. Remember that cooking times vary per oven so be sure to keep a close eye on it when cooking for the first time.
