Ah, it’s that magical time of year again. We can finally step outside without looking like a marshmallow in a scarf factory! The birds have returned from their extended vacation—where they were probably sipping piña coladas on a tropical beach—while the sun is magically shining from the time we wake up to the time we go to bed.

An Irresistible Blend of Flavors for a Refreshing Treat
The combination of sweet, salty, and tang of this dessert delights the tastebuds, while the lightness of the Jell-O and fruit brings back memories of spring popsicles and summer fruit drinks—basically, a nostalgic trip that’s more refreshing than a cold shower on a hot day. So grab a spoon and get ready for a tastebud celebration that might just make you do a happy little jig!
Smash Away Stress: A Fun and Tasty Treat!

Making the Crust
This recipe kicks off with an entertaining activity: turning your pretzels into tiny pieces! Grab a ziploc bag and toss those pretzels in, then channel your inner construction worker and crush them with a rolling pin or, yes, a small hammer! That’s right—a hammer! So, if you find yourself battling anxiety or stress, this recipe is your secret weapon. Who knew relieving stress could be so crunchy and delicious?
Mix the pretzels with the melted butter and sugar and press into the bottom of a 9″x13″ cake pan and bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Let cool completely.

Making the Filling
While the crust is cooling, in a mixer or food processor, mix the softened cream cheese with the confectioners’ sugar. Blend until smooth. Once smooth, fold in the container of Cool Whip.
Once the pretzel crust is completely cooled, spread the cream cheese mixture over the pretzel crust. Make sure to spread all the way to the edges of the pretzel layer to prevent the jello layer from leaking through to the bottom of the pan.

In another bowl, mix jello in 2 cups of hot water until dissolved. Add frozen strawberries and pineapple – no need to thaw those strawberries; they’re doing their best to help the jello set faster, like eager little cheerleaders! Just a heads up: make sure you’re using canned pineapple, not fresh. Fresh pineapple has a sneaky tendency to prevent jello from setting, which can lead to a delightful but slightly tragic liquidy situation. Trust me, I wouldn’t know this from personal experience or anything… wink. While it’s still delicious over ice cream, it’s just not quite the star of the dessert show!

*Additional Tip: If you’ve bought a bag of strawberries that isn’t exactly 16 oz, no worries. Just pull out your handy dandy 8 cup measuring cup. Place the jello in the measuring cup. It should measure about 2 cups. Then place enough strawberries to make the mixture measure 3 cups. Then add enough crushed pineapple to make the mixture measure a total of 4 cups.
Assembly
Let the jello do its thing in the fridge and partially set before you spread it over the cream cheese layer. Then, pop it back in the fridge to set the rest of the way. And that’s it! Your refrigerator will take over from here while you kick back, relax, and dream about the moment when everyone starts battling it out for the last slice of your masterpiece.
Now, if you’re looking to sprinkle some patriotic flair on your dessert for Memorial Day or the 4th of July, toss in some fresh or frozen blueberries into that jello mixture. Who knew fighting for dessert could be a red, white, and blue affair?
