A Quest for Comfort

I firmly believe that chocolate chip cookies are the ultimate comfort food. Seriously, they’re like the hug you never knew you needed, always there for you—whether you’re wallowing in self-pity, celebrating a small victory, or racing against a deadline that should come with a warning label. I vividly remember those late-night cram sessions in college, trying to absorb more information than my brain could handle. With a book in one hand and a package of cookies in the other, I managed to silence my growling stomach while soothing my soul. So, when it comes to baking my own chocolate chip cookies, it’s crucial that I don’t accidentally create something that resembles a hockey puck.

Your Go-To Solution for Any Occasion

Not only are chocolate chip cookies quick, easy, and portable, but they also double as a dessert with impressive versatility. They’re the one treat that can accompany a college student in their cramped dorm or grace the table of a five-star restaurant—talk about a glow-up! That’s why having a dependable, foolproof recipe is a necessity. You never know when a culinary emergency will strike. An unexpected dinner guest, a last-minute date night that’s suddenly turned into “I promise I can cook,”. Or maybe just a hard-earned night of relaxation after surviving another rollercoaster day. Whatever the situation, this recipe is like a secret weapon that should be in every cookbook. After all, who wouldn’t want to impress others (and themselves) with a delicious batch of chocolate chip cookies?

Ooey Gooey Deliciousness!

If you’re anything like me, you find chocolate chip cookies to be utterly irresistible when they come straight out of the oven. There’s nothing quite as delightful as a warm chocolate chip cookie that is crisp on the outside and soft and gooey on the inside. With each bite, the melted chocolate oozes from the rich cookie.

If you share this passion, you’re going to love this find: a silicone meatball tray (yes, you read that right—meatball tray) that perfectly portions chocolate chip cookies. Just prepare your dough, place it in the mold, close it, and then put it in the freezer for later. It’s even better than the ready-to-bake dough from the store! Check it out here or below!

Meatball Master

The unique design allows portions to be easily removed, even when frozen.

Course Dessert, Snack
Cuisine American

Ingredients

  • 12 tbsp butter (room temperature) (1-1/2 sticks)
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 1-1/4 cup light brown sugar firmly packed
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 tsp baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1 large egg
  • 2-1/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 cups bittersweet or semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Prehead oven to 375 degrees F
  • With a mixer, beat the brown sugar, corn syrup and butter together until soft and fluffy.
  • Beat in the baking powder, vanilla, salt and baking soda and add in the egg last, mixing till the egg is distributed.
  • Mix in the flour and then fold in chocolate chips and any additional filling you desire.
  • Drop rounded spoon fulls of dough onto baking sheet and cook for 12 to 14 minutes.

Notes

Bake the cookies until just browned on the edges. The centers will be soft and seem unfinished when first removed from the oven but will firm more when they cool.
If you’re using the meatball mold and cooking the cookies from frozen, I usually set the oven to 350 degrees and cook for slightly longer. The time may depend on your oven but I usually look for them to just begin to brown on the edges.
