The Only Chocolate Chip Recipe You'll Ever Need

The name of this recipe says it all. Use this recipe as the base for any of your favorite chocolate chip cookie fillings (white chocolate, nuts, m&m's, raisins) the possibilities are endless!

Ingredients
  

  • 12 tbsp butter (room temperature) (1-1/2 sticks)
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 1-1/4 cup light brown sugar firmly packed
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 tsp baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1 large egg
  • 2-1/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 cups bittersweet or semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions
 

  • Prehead oven to 375 degrees F
  • With a mixer, beat the brown sugar, corn syrup and butter together until soft and fluffy.
  • Beat in the baking powder, vanilla, salt and baking soda and add in the egg last, mixing till the egg is distributed.
  • Mix in the flour and then fold in chocolate chips and any additional filling you desire.
  • Drop rounded spoon fulls of dough onto baking sheet and cook for 12 to 14 minutes.

Notes

Bake the cookies until just browned on the edges. The centers will be soft and seem unfinished when first removed from the oven but will firm more when they cool.
If you're using the meatball mold and cooking the cookies from frozen, I usually set the oven to 350 degrees and cook for slightly longer. The time may depend on your oven but I usually look for them to just begin to brown on the edges.
