Tantalize Your Taste Buds

These spooky treats are a perfect blend of rich butterscotch flavor with a moist, cake-like texture that will pleasantly surprise your taste buds. Whether you’re hosting a haunted house party or simply want to indulge in some Halloween treats, this dessert is sure to be a hit. With its unique flavor and eerie charm, it’s bound to add some festive fun to your celebration. The best part? They’re easy to make too!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 6 Tbsp butter or margarine
  • 1-3/4 cups packed light brown sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup pecans or nut of choice, coarsely chopped (optional)
  • 1 spooky baking pan – We used this adorable Wilton’s baking pan linked here.

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease baking pan (I like to use a floured cooking spray linked here).
  1. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat (a quick option is to melt the butter in a microwaveable dish in the microwave.) Remove the butter from the heat and stir in brown sugar and vanilla.
  1. Beat in the eggs until well blended.
  1. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, salt and baking powder.
  2. Stir flour mixture into egg butter and brown sugar mixture just until blended.
  3. Fold in pecans (optional) and then pour batter equally into each well, filling 3/4 full.
  4. Bake for about 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted 2 inches from edge comes out clean.
  5. Baker’s note: Do not over-bake. Blondies will increase in firmness as they cool and settle.
  6. Allow the blondies to fully cool before removing from pans.

Confession

Full disclosure here. If you accidentally filled your pan more than 3/4 full and they overflowed because you got distracted like me, don’t’ panic!

Just let them fully cool, remove them from the tray and then carefully trim off the excess edges.

P.S. The edges are a delicious little snack… Just saying.
